French Friday: Why D.E.I. is the New C.R.T.

Updated: Feb 22

Lately, there’s been lots of talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)—sometimes as a virtuous initiative and sometimes as a boogeyman. Even Elon Musk weighed in, presenting it as a threat to our safety. Is this just another baseless moral panic? What are the potential pitfalls of DEI? David French joins Skye Jethani to discuss the issue. Plus, David French introduces, “The After Party,” a new curriculum to help Christians engage politics in a more thoughtful, humble, and hospitable way.

Nice episode. I am glad you finally punched left. The title of the podcast and your initial comments about DEI being just hysteria made it seem like you were blame any critiques to DEI to hysteria alone..... but then David French stepped in and showed how DEI & CRT can be really unhelpful. By the way, CRT is, by definition illiberal. I wish you had spent just a minute critiquing that about CRT instead of claiming every critique to it was just hysteria. Last but not least, here's another critique to DEI by Jonathan Haidt, whom you often quote (and I am pretty sure he's not hysteric):
