Hi Jennifer - yeah, the origins of the enneagram are a little vague and weird. Lots of people have contributed over the years - building off traditions that some trace all the way back to the Desert Fathers. I’m very wary, thought, of Christians who spend a lot of time looking for the occult, because they invariably find it. The Beatles, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, all rock music, yoga, essential oils... You can take the enneagram (or yoga or essential oils) in a mystical direction, or you can find the benefit from different wisdom traditions or practices and push them through a filter of biblical wisdom. Zondervan, Thomas Nelson and Intervarsity Press wouldn’t be putting out enneagram books…
