French Friday: Nerdfest 2026

Guess what time it is? Once every year, David French and Skye Jethani devote an episode to movies, TV shows, and pop culture nerdery. This year's Nerdfest focuses on Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," and David makes his case that the film is a Trojan horse filled with conservative values. They also react to the new "Avengers: Doomsday" trailer, why superhero movies aren't working anymore, and their shared hatred of multiverses. Finally, from the non-nerd world, they discuss new data showing Gen Z is turned off to Christianity by the evangelical support for

Donald Trump. What's really behind the numbers?

First, I thought French Friday Nerdfest 2026 was going to be just that, but it ended with your broken record of denouncing Trump and his supporters and questioning their Christianity. I would have rather a greater focus on nerd things even if they have a touch of political commentary thrown in. Second, again you consistently call out the right for their skewed understanding of God through the lens of their political idols, but you have very little criticism for the left and their same idolatry with another flavor. I pray you do some modest re-research into the Confessional Lutheran understanding of the Right- and left-hand kingdoms which put far less emphasis on the left and far more on the right…
